In meiner künstlerischen Arbeit geht es mir um die Sensibilisierung von Wahrnehmung. Ich bin nicht an der Abbildung von Gegenständlichkeit interessiert, dafür aber an der Oberflächenbeschaffenheit und den Farben und Strukturen der alltäglichen Dinge und der Natur. Im Prozess des Wahrnehmens erlebt die Betrachterin/der Betrachter die eigene aktive Rolle in der jeweiligen Vermittlung zwischen dem unmittelbarem Sehen und dem Vorstellen. Unvollständige Formen können gedanklich vollendet, die Selbstähnlichkeiten in der Natur entdeckt werden. Die Konzentration auf die Nähe wird als befreiende Loslösung vom konkret Erlebtem empfunden.
Mein Wunsch ist es, auf Grundlage meiner philosophischen und wissenschaftlichen Studien, die Komplexität und die Einfachheit des Lebens gleichzeitig in ein einziges Bild zu bannen. Meine Gemälde und Fotografien begreife ich als künstlerische Meditationen. Sie sind ein Ausschnitt, eine Momentaufnahme unserer erlebten Realität.
In my artistic work I am concerned with the sensitization of perception. I am not interested in the depiction of representational, but in the surface texture and the colours and structures of everyday things and nature. In the process of of perception, the viewer experiences her or his own active role, in the respective mediation between the immediate seeing and imagination. Incomplete forms can be completed in forms by thought, the self similarities in nature can be discovered. The concentration on proximity is experienced as a liberating detachment from the concretly experience.
My desire in my artistic work, based on my philosophical and scientific studies, is to simultaneously capture the complexity and simplicity of life in a single image. I understand my paintings and photographs as artistic meditations. They are a section, a snapshot of our experienced reality.
Petra Dahmens Kunst ist die Essenz ihrer Hingabe an die Natur und das Leben. Mit ihrer Fotografie fängt Sie die Wirklichkeit ein und mit dem Malen reflektiert Sie diese wieder. In ihren Werken ist die Inspiration als eine Form des Verstehens und Antwortens überall zu spüren. Ihre Bilder sind Räume des Schweigens. Petra Dahmen’s art is the essence of her devotion to nature and life. With her photos she captures reality, and with her paintings she reflects it back. Den Arbeiten von Petra Dahmen liegt ein vitalisiertes Lebenskonzept zugrunde. Wo alles fliesst, wo alles in Bewegung ist, wo Umrisse aufgelöst, ausgelöscht werden, wo alles oszilliert und in offene Prozesse gleitet.
